Event Overview: As part of the Sixth Annual Architecture Month celebration, the public is invited to join -- by reservation - in a Free Greater Chinatown Walking Tour, led by AIA architects, on Saturday, April 14. Highlights include: historic Merchant Street, Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Lum Yip Kee, Wo Fat, Club Hubba Hubba and Hawaii Theatre on Bethel Street.

This tour is a specially organized event that will be held by AIA Honolulu on this date only.

Staggered Tours:  Staggered tours will leave the AIA Honolulu office (see adress above) departing from 8:30am. The last tour departs at 10am for the moment but additional tours might be added once they fill up.

Over the course of two hours, walkers will learn about architecturally significant historic buildings and areas in Downtown Honolulu’s Chinatown and its environs.

What to bring: The tour covers a distance of approximately two miles. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen and hat are recommended; walkers are encouraged to bring water and snacks to keep their energy up!

Please note that crowded Chinatown streets and uneven pavement make this a challenging walk, particularly for people with mobility issues.

Parking:  Parking is available at the University Center garage, 828 Fort Street Mall until 4pm with entrance on Queen Street.  $2.00 flat rate from 8 am - 4 pm. For more parking locations see Contact Us/Directions.  Some street parking is also available, but be sure to allow enough time to park.  Our tours will depart ON TIME.

Event Chairs: Tonia Moy, AIA, Chair and Mark Ayers, AIA, Co-Chair.
